Pediatric ward

 

The pediatric ward specializes in providing medical services to children undergoing chemotherapy and admits patients suffering from:

Immune deficiencies.
Patients experiencing complications after chemotherapy.
Patients undergoing chemotherapy who require inpatient care for more than one day.
The department currently consists of a team of Iraqi and foreign doctors specialized in oncology, along with a nursing staff trained in pediatric care, providing therapeutic services, and administering medication under the direct supervision of the physician and the clinical pharmacy department.
The floor has 18 single rooms for each child, ensuring their safety and providing privacy with their family.
All children are monitored 24 hours a day by medical and nursing staff. It is also worth noting that all treatments provided are covered by the hospital.
What distinguishes the pediatric department is that treatments for children aged 15 and under are covered by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.
The department aims to provide the best care for children and meet international standards of care. This is achieved by adhering to the latest global protocols and techniques and implementing quality measures in all procedures before and during the patients' treatment period.
The chemotherapy department employs the latest techniques in modern treatment. The team aims to follow all procedures with the utmost precision to provide the best care for our patients and achieve global recovery rates, in collaboration with all departments, especially the psychological support department.

Review and Follow-up:
After the treatment, any symptoms affecting the patient are monitored and followed up. Follow-up is also conducted when the patient returns for another session, during which they are asked about any symptoms or issues they experienced during this period.

Patient Education and Support:
During the treatment, the staff examines the child, assesses symptoms and side effects, answers parents' questions and concerns, and provides detailed information about the treatment journey. This is accompanied by support from the psychological support team and close monitoring.

Department Features:
Patient privacy must be maintained during treatment administration while maintaining full confidentiality of their condition.
Treatment costs are covered free of charge by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine for children aged 15 and under.

One-Day Chemotherapy Department

The pediatric One-Day chemotherapy department for children consists of 12 movable beds, where patients are received based on a previously scheduled appointment set by the specialist.
The department is on the ground floor and accommodates between 20 to 30 appointments daily, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
The patient receives chemotherapy treatment according to the treatment protocol, tailored to his medical diagnosis, with the highest quality standards and sterilization from the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department. The department also handles blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies for diagnosis and aspiration in collaboration with the anesthesiologist.
The department consists of a medical team within the ward, including doctors recruited both from inside and outside Iraq and highly experienced nurses in administering chemotherapy and monitoring each patient's side effects.
